Changing of the Guard

First, the changing of the guard at the base of the Green Monster: Manny Ramirez, after years of complaints and controversial trade requests, has finally been ousted from Beantown. At the trade deadline on Thursday, Manny officially became a LA Dodger and Jason Bay made the move from Pittsburgh to Boston with several other minor players involved in the 3 team deal.

Secondly, changing of the cap for Junior. One of my favourites in the league, Ken Griffey Jr. was also branded with a new address at the Deadline on Thursday, making the trip to the South Side of Chicago. I'd love to see Griffey sometime before he retires; he is simply one of the best hitters of the current era, and God forbid, he is CLEAN!

Thirdly and most historically, the changing of the guard in the ATP Rankings. Rafael Nadal, having secured a semi-final berth in Cincinnati, combined with another heartbreaking loss for Roger Federer is in striking position of the World #1 spot. If he captures Cincy, Rafa will have all the bragging rights. Nadal is such a fierce competitor yet such a humbled person.

Olympics begin in just 6 days. Here at PoS, I'll be blogging about it as the day unfolds. It's gonna be one wild event, with live blogging, radio shows and articles. I can hardly wait!
