Snow and Show

I just went for a walk...in a brutal snowstorm. Besides sports, I love severe weather. But other than that, I also marvelled at the fact that the Toronto District School Board actually cancelled all classes for the afternoon. Anyway, this is a sports blog, so let's get to some action.

This week, the 30th, Harry and I did an extremely awesome show. Legitimately, we had a great discussion on the subject of All-Star games. We also wrapped up the Australian Open of tennis as well as talked some second half hockey. Overall, it was an interesting debate. Coming up on the 6th, we'll be hosting a show centred on internationalization/expansion and inflation in North American pro sports right now. There'll be some insightful opinions, as always!

It's Super Bowl weekend. I don't watch football and thus don't care who wins or not...though it'll be nice to see New England finish their perfecto, but equally nice if the underdog prevails.

My opinion on the Johan Santana deal: win-win for both sides. Minnesota likes to build its on future and they've got a talent in Carlos Gomez from this popular deal. For the Mets, the club took to new heights with pitching nabbing Santana from the Twins. Remember, Santana's making the switch from the AL to the NL so it's scary to think what he might accomplish. No, I don't think the Mets "sealed the East" with this trade, though the chance of a monumental collapse when it's crunch time is reduced. They can always rely on Johan to save the day! (They still got Pedro too...and John Maine!)

Action on the courts tonight. Lakers (who've now acquired Pau Gasol by the way) at the ACC vs. Toronto, Orlando at Philly, mighty Houston at Indiana, Utah pays a visit to the American capital, two weak teams battle it out: Clippers vs. Timberwolves (who've been playing a lot better lately) and more.

Jamario Moon has been named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. Congrats! Though not someone who'll average 30 points, Moon's a valuable rebounder, can sneak a few steals...oh and can you say: Rejection?! I'm sure he'll put on a fabulous show at the Dunk Contest in the Big Easy. Speaking of the Big Easy, Calderon was left of the list of stars while Bosh made it for the 3rd straight year. Can't say I was surprised.

Well...it for now, don't forget to check out our internet podcast at www.blogtalkradio.com/hdsports!
