February 29th

If it was any other year, I'd be in bed...but nah, I gotta have a "February 29th" somewhere on my blog...

So, I'll do a short rant on some things, then go to sleep...as I have a minor cold.

Brad Richards to Dallas...watch out for the Stars, not a bad deal for Tampa either.

Let's check some NBA scores: Raptors lose a winnable one vs. Pacers..well, Mike Dunleavy was unstoppable tonight. 36 points and 6 three's for the guy at the ACC. However, I'm still happy to see Bargnani bettering himself now, finishing with 27 points before fouling out late. Parker added 25, proving his value as usual. Our PG's did well, TJ with 15 and Jose with 13. Not a bad game, but lackluster defense cost it...122-11 Indiana.

So Houston's streak's up to 14 now...impressive! Seeing that they'll have to feel their way through the next couple months without Yao, it's gonna be tough, especially in that Western Conference where things are prison tight.

Spring Training's started, but I'm not looking too much into it. It's just warm up time...wins mean nothing and losses are just mistakes to learn from. Though, it'd be nice to see the Jays actually winning at least some of these games, for pride and strategy's sake.

Anyway, FBI wants to investigate Roger Clemens...all I got on this is that they can dig as deep as they want into this issue. I frankly don't care. I don't care what Roger Clemens took, the fact of the matter is, baseball should stop regretting its past and move on. And a tip for Congress...instead of picking bones with athletes, how 'bout doing some legitimate policy work that will help the American people?! Oil's at $103 a barrel, Nancy Pelosi! The economy is on the brink of a recession, if not already in one, Harry Reid! Do something about that!

Tomorrow's the weekend!

One Week's Notice

Well, haven't been checking in too often. I've been caught up at school.

Anyway, speaking of school, I've been promoted to be the sports editor of my school's cool newspaper. That's one step closer to my future job.

As well, I've been thinking...I can't waste my upcoming, hot and lazy summer. I have to be anything but lazy. I'm visiting the States for a week or two and will probably play a lot of baseball. So...rest of the time, I'm eager to volunteer or get a job of some kind. If you lovely readers know anything sports related...let me know. I've been flirting with the idea of being an ump at the local ballpark/league and someone suggested to me a position at Foreign Affairs Canada would be quite awesome. Comments...??

Otherwise, nothing too significant going on in sports. The leagues are going on with their busy schedules and fans pay their hard earned money for entertainment.

Blue Jays signed Shannon Stewart...why?? We've got Johnson, Wells, Rios, Stairs and Lind who are all decent outfielders. I like Shannon, but I don't see him playing too often in Rogers Centre, but hey, I've been wrong before. The guy could shock us with a monster year for all we know...

Raps doing okay, shoulda won Friday night, made up for it yesterday...

Show time on Wednesday, we'll be doing a similar rundown of about 10 topics...

In the meanwhile...take a look at this. Agree?? Listen to our show for my thoughts...

..well, homework time...

P.S. It's over for Hillary Clinton...no matter what she says out of desparation.

NBA All-Star Weekend

So San Antonio won the Shooting Stars Competition...

...and Jason Kapono championed the long-ball event...

...Deron Williams obstacled his way through the Skills Challenge...

...Super Howard went from being underrated to being overrated with 2 insanely-popular-and-impressive-but-not-so-deserving-of-100-full-points slam dunks...

...Daniel Gibson drained 33 points in the Rookie/Sophomore Challenge, all via 3 pointers...

...last but not least, the East edged the West in a three possession defeat in jazzy New Orleans.

A couple opinions: Dwight Howard did not deserve a 50 on that Superman dunk! He merely threw the ball into the net. I don't care if he has a Superman cape on, or Spider-Man or 007 suit on, Jamario Moon's second dunk in the First Round was much better. Howard comes no where close to Moon's elevation and he didn't even touch the rim!

Chris Paul was amazing for the West last night, but noooooooooooo, we had to stick with tradition and pick a guy from the winning side to be MVP.

Harry and I will be on air to debate all these topics plus a couple more concerning hockey and baseball. We hope you'll be tuning in at 7 PM this Wednesday, the 20th!

and etc...

Excited about MLB going to China, hope this is a tipping point in terms of popularizing the sport in the world's most populous nation.

Johan and Pedro will be scary come Opening Day. Watch out for the Mets!

Jays should go with Jesse Litsch for 5th starter...but again, it's only February 18th.

Roger Clemens' hearing was such a waste of 4 hours. More lies and no use whatsoever for MLB's "War on Steroids". Stop focusing on the past and concentrate on prevention in the future.

Politico Watch:

Congrats to Kosovo declaring independence. The world may not be fully ready to accept your status!...but at least I am!

Hawaii and Wisconsin Primaries for Democrats tomorrow...the Yes We Can chant will spread across Heartland America and in the Aloha State! Otherwise, just another see-if-Mike-Huckabee-survives day for GOP fans!

Show Tonight

Just came back from school, wanted to get everyone updated on a few things.

Tonight, Harry and I will be on air as usual tonight, but the time is slightly altered. Due to some personal business, we'll begin the show at 7 PM, NOT 6:30 PM. Again, 7 PM aka 1900 hours!! Hope you can tune in! We'll be chewing some facts on the All-Star Weekend for 30 minutes, as well as recapping the first half of the up and down season; discussing the surprises and if time allows, some ambitious predictions on the latter half.

...some random sports stuff...

Roger Clemens testified yesterday in front of Congress; I've yet to see or read about it, will update later.

Pitchers and Catchers report for Spring Training today, looking forward to 08 Jays!!

Minny almost beat Celtics the other night, interesting how Boston never fares well with them, maybe it's the Kevin Garnett factor??

Long weekend coming up, very glad to take in the All-Star weekend...

...it for now, again, show at 7 PM tonight!!

Happy Chinese New Year

Haven't been on here in a while, though glad to see the hit counter rising considerably.

Anyway, this week has been a crazy one for me. Even as I write this short post, I am trying to do other things at the same time. I have homework piled up (first week of the semester too), extra-curriculars to do...it's been busy, to say the least.

Today does mark Chinese New Year and it's a day like today that makes me miss my dear family back home in China. When I visited them this past summer, I spent the 6 weeks in a way I would never have imagined. It was incredibly fun. If you do celebrate Lunar New Year, have a good one! The year of the pig was the best of my life, now let's beat that in this year of the rat. Happy New Year!

Snowstorm yesterday, it was insane...love the white stuff!

Wonderful show last night, 18 listeners!! Thanks for those who tuned in. Next week, we'll be talking about basketball.

More details to follow on everything.

Snow and Show

I just went for a walk...in a brutal snowstorm. Besides sports, I love severe weather. But other than that, I also marvelled at the fact that the Toronto District School Board actually cancelled all classes for the afternoon. Anyway, this is a sports blog, so let's get to some action.

This week, the 30th, Harry and I did an extremely awesome show. Legitimately, we had a great discussion on the subject of All-Star games. We also wrapped up the Australian Open of tennis as well as talked some second half hockey. Overall, it was an interesting debate. Coming up on the 6th, we'll be hosting a show centred on internationalization/expansion and inflation in North American pro sports right now. There'll be some insightful opinions, as always!

It's Super Bowl weekend. I don't watch football and thus don't care who wins or not...though it'll be nice to see New England finish their perfecto, but equally nice if the underdog prevails.

My opinion on the Johan Santana deal: win-win for both sides. Minnesota likes to build its on future and they've got a talent in Carlos Gomez from this popular deal. For the Mets, the club took to new heights with pitching nabbing Santana from the Twins. Remember, Santana's making the switch from the AL to the NL so it's scary to think what he might accomplish. No, I don't think the Mets "sealed the East" with this trade, though the chance of a monumental collapse when it's crunch time is reduced. They can always rely on Johan to save the day! (They still got Pedro too...and John Maine!)

Action on the courts tonight. Lakers (who've now acquired Pau Gasol by the way) at the ACC vs. Toronto, Orlando at Philly, mighty Houston at Indiana, Utah pays a visit to the American capital, two weak teams battle it out: Clippers vs. Timberwolves (who've been playing a lot better lately) and more.

Jamario Moon has been named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. Congrats! Though not someone who'll average 30 points, Moon's a valuable rebounder, can sneak a few steals...oh and can you say: Rejection?! I'm sure he'll put on a fabulous show at the Dunk Contest in the Big Easy. Speaking of the Big Easy, Calderon was left of the list of stars while Bosh made it for the 3rd straight year. Can't say I was surprised.

Well...it for now, don't forget to check out our internet podcast at www.blogtalkradio.com/hdsports!
